Panamic Cushion Star - #133

On the final dive of my 2011 trip to the Galapagos I wanted to turn my attention away from the the sharks and turtles and focus on capturing the amazing colors and patterns of the sea stars we had been seeing on the bottom. There was a furiously ripping current, making it hard to stay still, but I managed to hold on to the rocks with my legs and left hand while while holding the camera with my right. Composing a photograph was a challenge, but luckily I managed to still the camera long enough to get several frames like this one that show the stunning details of these Panamic cushion stars (Pentaceraster cumin).
